Project description

Project goal

The main task to solve in the project TV Mosaic ‘Television in smaller Russian towns’ is supply of data about TV audience in small Russian towns, not included in the general TV Index project.

Within the research, we measure characteristics of the channels’ audiences, necessary for media planning and analysis of TV channels viewing specialties. The data from TV Mosaic are provided as reports, which are generally received by TV channels and advertising agencies.

The project’s subscribers get access to the information about possibilities to receive a channel in the town, daily average coverage, audience parameters according to time intervals, average time of viewing, and demographic profile of the audience.

TV Mosaic research has been performed by TNS Russia Company since 2010. Yearly selection in all small Russian towns constitutes over 35 000 interviews.

Project technique

Data gathering is performed with the help of CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing) system telephone interview on the basis of our own call-centertext TNS Russia in Tula, employing over 500 professional interviewers.

During interviews, we use the Day-after-Recall technique – a respondent’s recollection of his yesterday TV watching. The applied method is used extensively in the world, and here in Russia we also apply it to measure radio audience.

Geographic reach

‘Television in smaller Russian towns’ project represents regular urban population of the Russian Federation over 18 years old. The data are available for separate towns, and the information can be selected separately for each town.

The list of towns can change from one wave to another, and is agreed with all participants of the market in advance. TV Mosaic geographic reach covers almost all Russian territory from Bryansk to Leninsk-Kuznetskiy and from Kaliningrad to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatskiy.

Relevant list of the towns

The presented list of the towns for the research covers the period from 2010 to the first wave of 2012. The list is not complete and can be expanded according to desires of a client.

Update rate

Data of the TV Mosaic research are provided twice a year:

  • In the end of May (for the wave March-April);
  • In the middle of December (for the wave September-November).
